Discover the Be Kind World
Premila is a creative educator and founder of the award-winning UK charity Be Kind Movement™. She pioneered the Kindness in School Programme™ which builds emotional intelligence in children and young people using the transformative power of kindness and the medium of short films. Her multi-award-winning short film ITSY was the catalyst to the creation of the Kindness in School Programme™.
Born and raised in Bombay (aka Mumbai) and educated in the Netherlands and the UK, Premila Puri is a former recruiter turned film producer and Kindness Consultant. Her journey into the world of kindness began when she set up her UK charity Be Kind Movement in 2015 to start a movement that centred around education and the power of kindness. Having been bullied as a teenager, she was aware of how deeply scarred children can be as a result, and how they can carry these scars into their young working adult life that impacts their self-worth, communication, assertiveness and confrontation skills.
Whether building a kinder school ethos, impacting change within organisations to Be Kind, Think Kind, Act Kind™ or championing thought-provoking and socially impactful content, Premila is driven to create a world where Kindness simply becomes the Norm.
The popularity of Kindness in School Programme™ led businesses to inquire about incorporating such a programme within their organisations to build a more compassionate and kinder working culture that promotes productivity, encourages collaboration and strengthens employee resilience and engagement.
This led to the birth of the Kind Investment Programme or KindInvest™.
As a film producer, Premila’s production company, Be Kind Productions, celebrates compassion, grit and kindness of the human spirit by championing entertaining, thought-provoking and socially impactful content. She has led the set up of the Kindness in Film initiative with the launch of the first-ever Kindness in Film Summit in 2021 to promote a kinder approach to film-making, in front of and behind the camera.
Premila is a BAFTA Connect member and a Rotterdam Film Lab 2014 alumni. Winner of the Charity Champion award (Best Business Women Awards 2021), finalist at the Women’s Enterprise and National Diversity Awards 2022. Premila is a regular speaker and has been interviewed by BBC Asian Radio and SOAS Radio, amongst others.
